Tree Monitor
Our most ambitious standmount loudspeaker, created to convey a convincing sense of the performers’ presence. It combines exceptional transparency with natural voices, soundstage depth and dynamic ease, bringing you closer to every nuance of the performance.
Music takes on a presence
Some listening experiences hold your attention a little longer. A familiar voice feels closer, instruments occupy distinct positions in space, and the performers’ smallest gestures become clear. Tree Monitor grew from a fascination with this experience - the feeling of taking part in a musical event. This is our most ambitious standmount loudspeaker design. With carefully matched amplification, it can create a mesmerising presentation in which transparency and precision combine with natural smoothness and dynamic ease. Subtle decays remain clear, while powerful entrances retain their energy and impact. The midrange is particularly compelling. Voices have convincing tone, clear articulation and that elusive immediacy that creates a sense of another person’s presence. You hear a breath, a shift in emphasis on a word, a subtle transition from calm to tension. These small moments bring you closer to the emotion of the performance. The soundstage unfolds in width and depth, with clearly placed instruments and distinct relationships between its layers. When the recording captures the acoustics of the venue, reverberation and decays deepen the sense of participation. An intimate performance conveys closeness, while a larger ensemble gains breadth and room to breathe. This is the combination we sought: detail that allows you to follow the performance and coherence that preserves the natural flow of music. Tree Monitor invites you to listen more closely and stay for another track.

SEAS Exotic — tonal colour and effortless expression
Low and mid frequencies are handled by a 22 cm Seas Exotic woofer with a lightweight paper cone, an AlNiCo magnet and a wooden phase plug. This driver’s capabilities provided the starting point for the entire project. Its low-loss surround has received an additional damping coating to reduce its resonances. This modification is part of adapting the driver to our sonic objectives. In Tree Monitor, we placed particular emphasis on combining natural midrange tone with immediacy and dynamic ease. Voices should retain their individual character, instruments their clearly resolved tonal texture, and music its expression even in dense, layered passages.
Beryllium and a custom-designed waveguide
High frequencies are reproduced by the Bliesma T25B, featuring a 25 mm beryllium dome. The driver has a moving mass of just 0.10 g and a neodymium motor with a magnetic flux density of 2 T in the gap. Its voice coil is wound on a titanium former, and the dome’s first breakup resonance lies in the ultrasonic range. The tweeter operates in a waveguide developed by OWL Audio specifically for this loudspeaker. Its use enabled a crossover frequency of 1800 Hz and allowed us to refine the integration of the two drivers. The waveguide geometry and crossover were developed together with time and phase alignment in mind. The design reference point for driver alignment is 2.5 m in front of the loudspeaker, at tweeter height. This is one of the foundations of a coherent presentation and precise reproduction of spatial relationships.

The crossover — at the heart of an integrated design
Tree Monitor’s crossover, designed in-house, brings the capabilities of the drivers, waveguide and cabinet together into a coherent whole. Its design and component selection play an important role in shaping the sound — its balance, transparency and ease.We use wax-impregnated foil inductors, air-core inductors wound with copper wire, Duelund JDM series and Jantzen Alumen capacitors, and non-inductive resistors with a 1% tolerance. This carefully chosen combination is also informed by listening evaluations. During tuning, we listen to how individual choices affect natural tonal colour, the clarity of decays and musical expression. We assemble the crossover by hand using point-to-point wiring, without a printed circuit board, keeping connections between components short. We refine the complete design through measurements and listening sessions, assessing the result in the finished loudspeaker. It is through the interaction of all its elements that we seek the particular combination of precision, smoothness and dynamics that gives Tree Monitor its character.
A layered cabinet
The front, rear, top and bottom panels combine 12 mm birch plywood with a 12 mm high-density wood-fibre composite. The side panels pair 15 mm birch plywood with 8 mm MDF. An internal cross-brace reinforces the structure, while aramid fibres provide acoustic damping. We selected the black composite for its rigidity, hardness and dimensional stability. It also allows complex shapes, including our custom waveguide, to be machined precisely. Its appearance is a distinctive element of Tree Monitor’s design.Natural oak protected with hardwax oil gives the cabinet a pronounced texture and a warm tone. Together with the black elements, it emphasises the loudspeaker’s proportions and the tactile quality of its materials.

Room to perform
Tree Monitor can create an expansive soundstage and maintain dynamic ease even in a larger space. In our listening sessions, it also performed well in a room of approximately 35 m². Room choice and positioning should, however, take account of the acoustics and expectations for deep bass.Low-frequency extension has its limits. The strengths of the bass lie in its clarity, texture and energy, contributing to a coherent presentation across the frequency range. Carefully matched amplification allows the loudspeaker to realise its potential in conveying tonal colour, space and dynamic contrasts.Tree Monitor was created for listeners fascinated by the performance itself: the individuality of a voice, the tension between notes and the way music fills a space.

OWL AUDIO Grove 18
OWL AUDIO is a Polish audio manufacturer specialising in the design of loudspeakers, which made its official debut at the AVS in Warsaw in 2025. At that time, even before the exhibition, we had the opportunity to test the Forest Classic 18.1 floorstanding model. Now, the manufacturer’s new, significantly cheaper bookshelf speakers, the Grove 18, have arrived for testing.
